This
exciting Sunday spent with family is just what I needed after a long stressful
week. I was feeling overwhelmed with homework, work, apartment/house hunting,
and attempting to have a social life. Writing eleven lesson plans, a ten page
paper, and numerous other papers and assignments is a little bit intimidating.
Whenever I start stressing out, I slow down and remember why I am in the
program in the first place. I want to be a teacher. I want to make a difference
in the lives of children. It is then that I realize all of the late nights and
early mornings, all of the homework, and all of the missed social engagements will
be worth it. I can do this!
This
week’s lessons:
Slow
down and enjoy the little things (like a Seahawks win!). In tough times, remind
yourself why you are where you are and remember it will be worth it in the end.
Tough times never last, but tough people do!
It IS a lot of work... even once you are out there... but teaching is an amazing profession. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteYes! Our work is so worth it -hang in there! (And, hooray for those Seahawks).
ReplyDeleteExcept for being a parent, teaching is the very best job. Just think of all the beautiful souls you will have a chance to interact with and guide.

You are right - slow down and enjoy the little things! One of my colleagues encourages, as a new teacher, be sure to notice your successful moments and enjoy these...even if they are surrounded by less memorable moments. Teaching is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteOh Jordann, I agree with you! I have been so overwhelmed and it's like the homework never ends. All the work is starting to feel like the same stuff and it is just running together. It will be worth it in the end though, we can do this! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you got to do something over the weekend that kind of took your mind off of everything! I too wonder if it's worth it sometimes. I know you'll be a great teacher! I know it is not what I am planning to do as a career, so I often think that I am wasting my time, but I remind myself that I must be where I am for a reason, so I try not to dwell on it. You'll be great!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! This can be stressful but in the end it's going to be worth it. Keep on going, you will be a great teacher!
ReplyDeleteThis is great Jordann! Nice slice! I am glad you were able to have those moments of clarity and remember why we put ourselves through all that we do! This was something I needed to hear as I have been extremely overwhelmed as well. Way to stay positive! :)
